Aimee’s product liability claim settles for £15,000 (Belfast)

Aimee purchased a hairdryer from a well known highstreet chemist whilst on a shopping trip to Belfast city centre. Soon after the purchase she was using it to dry her hair when the nozzle detached itself and fell down the back of her dress. The nozzle of the hair dryer had heated up and burned her upper back.

Aimee attended A&E where dressing was applied.

She had to re-attend hospital to have blisters caused by the burn aspirated.  She subsequently required repeat dressing every second day. As a result of this incident Aimee was left with a significant triangular cosmetic blemish on her upper back.

Aimee contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors and we took on her case

Legal Proceedings were initiated against the manufacturer of the hairdryer in question.  However, liability was denied.  We commissioned a report on the hairdryer from a consulting mechanical engineer, showing that we would enter a legal battle if we must. The matter ultimately came up for negotiation and settled in the sum of £15,000 without admission of liability.
