William was driving through Ballintoy when a jeep came round the bend on the wrong side of the road and collided with his vehicle. Police attended the scene and the driver and passenger of the jeep were arrested by police under suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol.

Initially, the third party insurers refused to admit liability, saying that they wanted to see the police report before doing so. Our solicitors obtained medical evidence in the meantime regarding the various injuries the client sustained including a report from an orthopaedic consultant on soft tissue injuries to his sternum, left chest wall, right hand, left wrist, chest and back. We obtained a report from a Consultant Plastic surgeon on a scar he sustained as a result of a laceration above his left eyebrow which was permanent.
The police report was not forthcoming after some time, and we then issued proceedings to move things forward. Due to ongoing symptoms continuing outside the prognosis period given for the back, wrist and thumbs, we obtained an updated report which confirmed that the ongoing symptoms in the wrist were related to the accident and may continue at a low level but that the other ongoing symptoms were not related to the accident.
Eventually, the other side agreed to enter into settlement discussions and the case was subsequently settled for £25,000.
