Robert’s road traffic accident claim settles for £30,000 (Ballymoney)

car accident Ballymoney

Robert was driving in the direction of Ballymoney when another vehicle drove through a staggered junction without stopping causing a head on collision. Significant damage was done to both cars and Robert was taken by ambulance to the Causeway Hospital where he was treated for injuries.

Road Traffic Accident Injuries

As a result of this car accident, Robert suffered an injury to the top of his head with associated amnesia; in addition he suffered a broken right collar bone, with pain in his neck, pain in his right leg and bruising to the top of both legs. He subsequently had to undergo an operation for internal fixation of his broken collar bone.

Personal Injury Specialist Patrick O’Hare Recommended

Robert approached Patrick O’Hare of this office to pursue a personal injury claim on his behalf. He chose this firm on the recommendation of a family member who had used our services before. We sent a letter of claim to the defendant. It transpired that the vehicle in question was a hire car and that the occupants of the car were unsure of the road layout where the accident happened. Liability for the accident was ultimately accepted. Robert’s medical records and a consultant orthopaedic surgeon report was obtained who felt that Robert’s shoulder symptoms should recover within 12 months but that he would be left with an operation scar and numbness at the site of the operation scar.

Two Offers Rejected Before Settlement

The medical evidence was furnished to the defendant’s insurers who made an offer of £20,000. This was rejected as totally insufficient. Further negotiations took place. An increased offer of £25,000 was made. Again this was rejected. The case finally settled for a sum in excess of £30,000.
