Julie’s shop accident settles for £56,000 (Belfast)
Julie was out in her local shop when her foot caught on a stack of newspapers which had been left on the floor beside the newsstand causing her to trip and fall to the floor.
An ambulance was called to the scene and Julie was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she had sustained a significant injury including a fracture to her left hip as a direct result of the fall.
Julie contacted Paschal O’Hare Personal Injury Solicitors
Julie subsequently instructed our office and she was medically examined by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who advised that her symptoms should largely resolve but she may be left with some minor degree of ongoing stiffness which may affect her when walking long distances.
We served the medical evidence on the insurers who initially offered £37,000.00 for the injuries. This was rejected as being entirely unsatisfactory for the suffering sustained by Julie. An increased offer was then made in the sum of £45,000.00 which was also rejected. Following further negotiation whereby the ongoing impact on Julie’s day-to-day activities was highlighted including reduced mobility in a previously very active lady settlement was agreed in the sum of £56,000. This was achieved without the need for Court proceedings. Julie was delighted with the outcome.
