#MissingType – What is it and why did we do it?

The number of new blood donors has decreased dramatically in Northern Ireland in the past decade, dropping by almost 36%.  The Blood Transfusion Service have stated that 3 people get blood transfusions every hour in Northern Ireland and that 8000 new donors are required annually to meet the demand.

As a firm of personal injury specialist solicitors, we understand the importance of donating blood better than many. This is why we are concerned about the latest figures. Subsequently, we fully supported the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service’s #MissingType campaign. Advocates of the social-media site, Twitter, may have seen the creative campaign trend. Like many local people, businesses and organisations, we dropped the A and O from our Twitter handle. A symbolic act representative of the missing blood types so desperately required to save the lives of our friends, colleagues and family members.

We implore all of our stakeholders, from clients to competitors to support NI Blood Transfusion Service and to donate blood if they are able. Visit NIBTS to discover how.
