We saved 14 trees by committing to a greener office
Despite striving towards being a paperless office, sometimes the use of hardcopy paperwork is unavoidable in the legal world. We keep hundreds of thousands of files on a secure digital database in a conscious effort to reduce our ecological footprint. However, when it comes to dealing with external organisations such as defendant’s insurance companies and the courts we are often required to work on paper like in the good old days of law.
When we can and there is no legal requirement to keep a hardcopy of paperwork, we have it shredded and recycled. We use Shredbank, a local multi-award winning document destruction company that help us ensure confidential information is disposed of in a secure, safe and ethical manner. They even do it on-site so that we can be certain sensitive information is correctly destroyed. Last year alone Shredbank collected a whopping 800kg of waste paper from our offices in Belfast & Carrickfergus in their mobile shredding trucks which is then removed and recycled. This means that our offices are responsible for saving 14 trees in just one year.
