Harland & Wolff Hearing Loss Claim Settles for £6,500 Belfast Solicitors

Harland & Wolff Hearing Loss Claim Settles for £6,500 (Belfast)

John was employed as a steelworker at Harland & Wolff from the 1970’s up until 2010. He was exposed to loud noise in the course of his work on a regular basis. No hearing protection was provided by the employer, particularly in the early days of his employment. He found that he had to raise his voice to converse with co-workers, such was the level of noise.

John contacted our hearing loss solicitors

John noticed issues with his hearing over the years, particularly when engaging in conversations with others and also noticed that he needed to increase the volume on his television set to hear better.  With this in mind, John reached out to our specialist team and we talked him through the process involved in making a claim for noise induced hearing loss.

We quickly arranged for him to undergo a hearing test to determine if his hearing issues were, at least, in part, due to industrial exposure to noise.  A follow up examination with an ENT Surgeon was then arranged and the doctor agreed that John’s hearing issues emanated, at least, in part, from his exposure to noise during his employment. The Consultant also graded the severity of his hearing problem.

As matters progressed, local solicitors were appointed by the employer’s insurer and John underwent an examination by their ENT expert. Using our expert skills and knowledge, we were able to negotiate a £6,500 settlement for John based on the medical evidence available from both sides. John was very happy with the outcome and satisfied that he was adequately compensated for the level of hearing loss he suffered as a result of his exposure to noise.
