Laura was driving along Ballyrobert Road near Crawfordsburn when a driver pulled out from a side road and collided with her vehicle.
At the scene, the other driver initially disputed liability. When Laura advised that she had dashcam footage, he changed his position. The police later cautioned him for careless driving.
She attended hospital with soft tissue injuries to her shoulders, knees and back. She also developed travel anxiety when in a car and had to take several weeks off work.

We obtained an expert report from a loss assessor due to the relatively new condition of Laura’s vehicle and pursued a claim for diminution in value. The insurers argued there was no loss unless the vehicle was sold. We challenged this position with supporting case law and secured £1,000 for this aspect of the claim.
Medical evidence was obtained from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Consultant Psychiatrist. They provided prognosis periods of 12 months for physical recovery and 13 months for her adjustment disorder. Her loss of earnings and recoupment due to her employer were also agreed.
Negotiations and Settlement
The insurers initially offered £7,500 for her injuries. Following negotiations, we secured £22,000 for her injuries, with the total settlement reaching £25,000.
