Mark was a passenger in a vehicle travelling along Glandore Gardens in Belfast when another vehicle emerged from a junction and collided with them. The impact caused the airbags in the vehicle to deploy.
Mark attended the Mater Hospital later that same day.
Paschal O’Hare Solicitors Took On His Claim
After hearing our radio advertisement, Mark contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors. Solicitor Chris McAllister quickly confirmed that we could assist with a claim for compensation.
A letter of claim was issued to the Defendant’s insurers, and liability was admitted within six weeks.
Medical evidence was obtained from a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Mark was diagnosed with soft tissue injuries to his neck and shoulder. His chest symptoms resolved relatively quickly. He also sustained burns to his torso from the airbag deployment, which resulted in permanent scarring.
We also obtained evidence of wage loss from his employer.
Negotiations and Settlement
The Defendant’s insurers made an initial offer of £25,000. Following our advice, Mark rejected this offer. We set out detailed submissions explaining why the value of the claim was higher.
The insurers accepted our position and increased their offer. Mark accepted £36,000 in full settlement of his claim.
Chris McAllister, Solicitor, Commented
“We challenged the initial valuation and ensured the full impact of the injuries, including the scarring and financial losses, was properly reflected. The final settlement represents a fair outcome for our client.”
