Paul was working as a maintenance fitter when he suffered a serious hand injury during the course of his employment. He was carrying out maintenance on a machine when faulty lifting equipment failed while a gearbox was being lifted, crushing his left thumb.
Following the accident, Paul attended the Ulster Hospital, where he underwent treatment to repair tendon and nerve damage to his thumb.

To support the claim, we arranged for Paul to be examined by a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and a Consultant Hand Therapist. We also obtained his hospital notes, GP records, and other relevant medical documents, which were provided to the experts so they could fully assess the nature and extent of his injuries.
Before medical evidence was finalised, the Defendant made an initial offer of £11,500. Following our advice, Paul rejected that offer. After the medical reports were served, negotiations began in earnest. The insurer then increased its offer to £20,000, but this too was rejected.
We continued to press the claim forward and successfully negotiated a final settlement of £45,000, which Paul was very pleased to accept.
