Lisa’s car accident settles for £32,500 (Newtownards)

Lisa was involved in a car accident on Belfast Road in Newtownards. A vehicle driven by the third party collided with the rear of her vehicle. She was pregnant at the time and had to contact a colleague to come and get her as she was shocked and unable to drive.

Lisa was taken to the Ulster Maternity Unity where it was noted that the baby’s heart rate was high and they waited until it went down. She subsequently developed increasing cramp type pains, and these worsened as the next few days went on. She contacted the Ulster Maternity unity where she was advised she was in active labour and her baby was born 5 and a half weeks prematurely by emergency C-section. Lisa also experienced pain in her shoulder, neck, lower back and wrist following the accident.

Lisa reached out to Paschal O’Hare Solicitors

Lisa instructed us and our solicitors sent a letter of claim to the insurers who admitted liability. We obtained a report from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who gave a 16-20 month prognosis for her recovery from her soft tissue injuries. Our solicitors also obtained a report from a Consultant Obstetrician who related her baby’s premature birth directly to the accident.

The insurers initially offered £20,000 for the accident. We negotiated a settlement of £32,500 which Lisa was happy with.
