Luke’s Slip and Fall Claim Settles for £7,000 (Newtownabbey)

On a wet and rainy day In November 2020, Luke was entering a store in Newtownabbey when he slipped and fell. He was in a great deal of pain and sought medical attention after the accident.

Luke contacted our slip and fall injury solicitors

Luke didn’t know what to do, so he reached out to Paschal O’Hare for help.

Liability was initially denied on behalf of the store on the basis that they had a regular system of inspection. They initially made no offer of settlement.

Our solicitors viewed the CCTV and assessed the documentation provided by Iceland in relation to their system of inspection.

We obtained an Orthopaedic Surgeon’s report on Luke’s injuries. The report revealed that he had sustained groin strain, knee pain and low back pain for a limited time following the accident.

Our solicitors put After The Event insurance in place for our client and proceeded to issue proceedings.  A Notice for Further and Better Particulars was served upon us by the Defendant’s solicitors, to which we served Replies.

We were then invited by the Defendant’s solicitor to enter into settlement discussions. Their initial offer of £5,000 was rejected. We eventually settled the case for £7,000.
