Peter’s accident settles for £50,000 (Belfast)

Peter was with some friends in a trampoline park in Belfast. There was a long runway-type trampoline where you jumped from the runway onto an airbag.

As he jumped on the trampoline, his foot went through the material whilst his other foot sprung him forward, causing the knee in the foot that had been trapped to be pulled and torn.

As the pain worsened, Peter subsequently attended hospital where it was determined he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, a strain of the medial collateral ligament and a tear of the right medical meniscus together with osteochondral injury. He had to have an operation and take 3 months off work as his job as a mechanic caused him to have to kneel under vehicles a lot.

Peter reached out to Paschal O’Hare Personal Injury Solicitors

Peter was concerned about his injuries and contacted our solicitors to discuss his situation. We organised a medical appointment with a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who advised that the client would have long term pain and weakness and be at a significant increased risk of the development of premature arthritic change in his knee which would cause interference in his work.

Initially the insurers denied liability, alleging instead that the client landed awkwardly on the airbag and this was his own fault.

We obtained an Engineer’s report supporting the client’s case and issued proceedings. Eventually, the other side agreed to settle the case in the sum of £50,000.
