Stephanie’s trip claim settles for £28,500 (Belfast)

Stephanie was involved in a trip accident when she was walking from her daughter’s flat in Belfast. She was going to her car when her foot went into a depression in the car park, causing her ankle to become inverted. Stephanie attended hospital the next morning, where it was confirmed she had fractured it. She initially was very limited in activities and was referred for physiotherapy.

Stephanie reached out to our trip and fall solicitors in Belfast

Stephanie wanted to speak with a solicitor about her accident, and she reached out to Paschal O’Hare after doing a quick Google search.

Our solicitors acted quickly and sent a letter of claim to the insurers of the Management company who owned the car park. We provided them with photos of the defect. Initially they said that ownership of the car park was unclear however after doing some further checks of the title deeds, they eventually conceded liability.

Our solicitors obtained a report from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who advised that an MRI scan of the ankle would be appropriate before venturing a prognosis. We obtained the MRI and forwarded this to them, and they confirmed that although her symptoms had improved with time, Stephanie’s ongoing pain in her left ankle would likely be present on a permanent basis.

Initially, an offer of £17,500 was made. We negotiated a settlement figure of £28,500 which Stephanie was happy with.
