Jason’s work accident settles for £15,000 (Downpatrick)

Jason was working for one of the largest ferry operators in Northern Ireland when he was involved in a work accident. The accident occurred when he was driving a lorry, towing a trailer filled with a hanging load. Because the load was unsteady, the vehicle Jason was driving toppled over onto the road. The accident was so serious that emergency services had to cut him out of the damaged vehicle. Jason sought medical attention, where it was revealed that he sustained injuries to his lower back and tail bone.

Jason reached out for help from Paschal O’Hare Solicitors

After his accident, Jason searched for work injury solicitors and contacted Paschal O’Hare. Initially, liability was denied by all defendants, as it was alleged that Jason was driving too fast and that this was what caused the vehicle to topple.

Our solicitors engaged the services of an engineer to comment upon the centre of gravity of the load inside, and to estimate the speed at which the vehicle would have been likely to topple over given the hanging load. Additionally, the services of a Consultant Psychiatrist were also engaged.

Proceedings were issued against 3 defendants. After opening arguments in front of the judge, the case was eventually settled out of court for £15,000.
