Richard’s accident at work claim settles for £15,000 (Belfast)

Richard was employed as a subcontractor and was carrying out joinery work in a Belfast factory. As he was walking through the factory floor he slipped on a clear fluid that was on the ground. The grey colour of the ground made this liquid very hard to see and there was no wet floor signs. Richard fell to the ground and the impact was absorbed by his knee and arm. As a result of the fall, Richard sustained fractures.

Richard contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors

Following the accident, Richard contacted us with the hope to pursue a claim. We issued proceedings and the factory denied liability. We had our new client examined privately by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. The medical expert prepared a report that indicated pre-existing issues in Richard that were only brought on as a result of the accident.

The case was listed for hearing and the defendant argued that the symptoms could have been provoked by any minor incident. Despite this, we invited them to negotiate and settled the case in the sum of £15,000.
