Tom’s accident at work settles for £31,000 (Lisburn)

Tom was employed by an energy company to do repairs on the premises of their property. On the date of the accident, Tom was asked to assist another employee with moving a heavy steel door that weighed over 100kg. The other employee dropped the door, causing it to fall on Tom’s finger, crushing and slicing it. Due to the seriousness of the injury, Tom’s wound had to be sutured and healed with scarring.

Tom instructed Paschal O’Hare Solicitors

Tom contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors with a view to claim for compensation. We sent a letter of claim to his employers and after an investigation by their insurers, liability was accepted. As this was a serious workplace injury we got him medically examined and the doctor gave a prognosis of 15 to 18 months for his pain in the area to resolve, with the scarring to be present on a permanent basis.

With the benefit of medical evidence, we then entered negotiations with the insurer and the case settled in the sum of £31,000.
