Ethan’s car accident settles for £25,000 (Monkstown)

Ethan was involved in a car accident on Doagh Road, near to Monkstown. He was driving when suddenly, and without warning, a vehicle emerged from a junction colliding with his vehicle. The collision caused his vehicle to overturn landing on its roof. He managed to get out of his overturned vehicle and an ambulance took him to Antrim Area Hospital.

Ethan contacted our car accident solicitors

Ethan had used our solicitor Chris McAllister in relation to another accident and was very satisfied with our services. As such, he decided to contact Paschal O’Hare Personal Injury Solicitors once again in regards to his more recent accident. Chris quickly established that we could assist, once again, in bringing a claim for compensation arising out of the incident and took initial instructions.

We traced insurance for the third party vehicle and a letter of claim as sent to them detailing our allegations. An admission of liability was secured within 6 weeks.

We gathered Ethan’s medical records relating to the accident. An appointment was arranged for him to be examined by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and the Consultant was provided with the notes and records from the various hospital attendances following the accident. He was suffering from pains in his neck, back, chest and arms as a result of the accident. The medical report documented the reduction of Ethan’s recreational activities as a result of his injury. The Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon diagnosed soft tissue injuries to these areas for a period of up to 18 months.

In addition to Ethan’s physical injuries, he was off work for over 2 months. We made contact with his employer and were able to ascertain that he suffered a loss of earnings as a result of the accident. In addition, we established that he would have to pay back any sick pay he received as a consequence of the accident, in the event of a successful claim being brought against a third party. We were able to establish the exact figure being sought by Ethan’s employer in this regard, and we included this in his claim directly against the third party.

Upon receipt of the medical report, and following discussions, an offer of £22,500 was made, on a global basis. Our solicitor Chris spoke with the third party insurer by telephone and secured an increase in the offer to £25,000, which Ethan was delighted to accept.
