Fiona was involved in a bus accident when she was travelling through the airport in Ibiza. She went on a Jet2 Holiday with the flight departing from Belfast to Ibiza and, on disembarking the flight, she boarded the bus from the plane to go to the terminal. There were some noisy passengers on the flight, and this continued on the bus. This appeared to have annoyed the driver who, without warning or reason, decided to slam on his brakes.
The force of his breaking was so severe that the majority of passengers fell to the floor on top of each other and over suitcases that were hurled around the bus. To make matters worse, the driver then proceeded to drive off without giving the injured parties time to recover their footing and again passengers were subjected to this force in the opposite direction.
Fiona suffered a concussion as well as soft tissue injuries (whiplash) to her neck and back and her holiday was ruined as a result.

When she returned back to Belfast, Fiona was in considerable pain due to her whiplash injuries. She wanted to learn about her options and decided to reach out to one of our solicitors
Our solicitors took on her case and immediately sent a letter of claim off to Jet2’s representatives who confirmed that liability would not be disputed. We obtained a report from a Consultant in Emergency Medicine who recommended that an MRI of the client’s neck be obtained. The MRI showed underlying degeneration however the Consultant confirmed that the client had suffered a head injury and compressive neck injury with symptoms for 12-18 months being related to the accident.
An offer of £6,500 was originally made. However, our skilled solicitors managed to negotiate a settlement of £10,000 which Fiona was happy with.
