Bethany’s road traffic accident claim settles for £10,000 (Banbridge)

Bethany was driving through Banbridge when she was involved in an accident. She had proceeded through a green light when a car travelling from her right went through a red light and struck the front of her vehicle. Her car was shunted to the side and into another vehicle. As a result of this accident the Plaintiff developed pain in her neck into her left shoulder with intermittent altered sensation in her left arm.

Bethany was advised by a friend to instruct Paschal O’Hare Solicitors to pursue a claim on her behalf.

Liability for the accident was admitted. We obtained medical reports from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who advised an MRI scan.  The MRI scan showed wear and tear in the Plaintiff’s cervical spine.  The Orthopaedic Surgeon was of the opinion that the Plaintiff would have developed pain in her neck due to the underlying wear and tear in any event. He was of the view that the accident in question had precipitated symptoms from the underlying degenerative change by two to three years. Negotiations were undertaken and the case settled in the sum of £10,000.
