One afternoon in May, Simon was a passenger in a vehicle being driven along Airport Road in Templepatrick. A third party vehicle veered into the lane Simon was travelling in and caused a collision between both vehicles.
Simon initially felt pain in his chest and attended hospital. He was scanned and it was discovered that he had suffered a fracture to his sternum. Due to his injuries, Simon was unable to work for a period of time and lost earnings as a result.
Simon reached out to our passenger accident solicitors
Simon contacted Paschal O’Hare Solicitors and one of our solicitors spoke to him and guided him through the claims process. We quickly liaised with the at-fault insurer and secured an early admission of liability. At the same time, we set up a medical appointment for Simon to be examined by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to examine him and set out the extent of his injuries and the impact to his life. Once the medical evidence was concluded, we shared a copy with the third party insurer and invited them to make proposals to compensate Simon.
Initially, the insurers offered Simon £10,000 for his injuries and loss of earnings. We quickly advised Simon to reject this offer which greatly fell short of the level of compensation he was entitled to. Using our negotiating skills and knowledge of the level of damages injuries of this nature attracts, we put forward some points for the insurer to consider and an improved offer soon ensued. We were still not satisfied that this higher amount adequately compensated Simon for his pain and suffering and again returned to the insurer to reiterate the true value of the claim. As a result of our perseverance and focus to achieve the best possible outcome for the client, an offer of £21,000 was made. We were happy to recommend this amount to the client and Simon was pleased to accept.
