Northern Ireland's Most Haunted Road

Northern Ireland’s Most Haunted Road

Halloween is fast approaching, and Northern Ireland has no shortage of spine-tingling tales. Our history is filled with stories of ghosts, banshees, fomorians and other things that go bump in the night. Recently, one local road was named among the top ten most haunted in the UK – Old Malone Road in Belfast.

Researchers at CompareNI.com compiled a list of the top ten most haunted roads in the UK supposedly inhabited by ghostly spirits. At the top of their list is the ghost of a young woman and her baby who are said to haunt Old Malone Road. Countless drivers have reported seeing a distraught mother holding an infant suddenly appear in the road, only to vanish into thin air when approached.

The prevailing story is that it’s the spirit of a woman who drowned herself and her child in a nearby lake. Now, unable to rest, wanders the area near the entrance to Lady Dixon Park. Her chilling apparition strikes fear into the hearts of late night motorists unlucky enough to encounter her.

Northern Ireland has a long history of haunted places, with Crumlin Road Gaol recently being named one of the most haunted spots in the world! Given the region’s supernatural reputation, it may not come as a shock that Belfast is also home to one of the UK’s spookiest streets.

At Paschal O’Hare Solicitors, we specialise in assisting those injured in road traffic accidents across Northern Ireland. However, we admit our expertise does not extend to collisions involving ghosts, banshees,  or any other supernatural entities you may encounter on your travels. While we aim to help victims of all kinds of road accidents, we traditionally do not handle cases involving run-ins with apparitions or phantoms. So this Halloween, we advise checking your backseat for stowaway spirits before leaving your house!

We hope everyone has a safe and spooktacular Halloween! 🎃
