Jack’s hearing loss claim settles for £27,500 (Belfast & Monkstown)

Jack worked for Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) in Belfast between 1985 and 2000 as a craft attendant and labourer. There he spent the vast majority of his time in the loud work environment filled with the noise of jack hammers and heavy machinery.

He also worked for Nortel in Monkstown between 2000 and 2010 as a shipper and was exposed to the noise of industrial machinery.

He wasn’t given adequate ear protection in either employment.

Jack reached out to our hearing loss solicitors

Jack was suffering from hearing issues and decided to contact Paschal O’Hare to learn about his options.

We sent him for an audiogram and subsequently obtained a report from an ENT Consultant that confirmed he had very slight hearing loss and moderate tinnitus and that 100% of his symptoms were related to his previous employment.

We issued proceedings and the Defendant’s obtained their own report. Their Consultant was in total agreement with the findings of our medical expert. We entered into settlement negotiations but were initially unable to get the Defendant’s to agree to a figure we were happy with.

Eventually after listing the case for hearing, they agreed to settle in the sum of £27,500 which Jack was happy with.

Our solicitors have been helping people across Northern Ireland make industrial deafness claims for over 50  years. If you’re experiencing hearing loss after working in places like NIE or Nortel, don’t hesitate to contact Paschal O’Hare Solicitors at 028 9031 3613 today.
