Jamie’s work accident settles for £40,000 (Bangor)

Jamie was involved in a work accident when he was employed by a company who dealt with broadband installations. The company had recently started installing new fibre kits and extra equipment was required for the job. Their vans had not been kitted out to securely hold the new equipment.

Whilst at a job in Bangor, Jamie was trying to pull a generator out of the van and as he did so, some equipment fell on top of his wrist, trapping it. He tried to pull his wrist out and was injured as a result. He suffered a wrist injury and was unable to return to that job again.

Jamie reached out to our work accident solicitors

He got a new job which was less physical but had to take a pay cut. He was concerned about his situation and wanted to speak to a solicitor about his options. Jamie contacted our firm and our Partner Seymour Major informed Jamie that we’re able to assist him.

We sent a letter of claim to his employer and their insurers denied liability, stating that it was Jamie’s fault for the way he unpacked the equipment.

We obtained reports from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon as well as follow up MRI’s which showed inflammation of the tendons in the wrist that they felt were likely to be permanent.

We issued proceedings and eventually after initially providing a defence and obtaining a defence medical report, the Defendant entered into settlement discussions and we settled the case for £40,000 which Jamie was happy with.
